About Prospect
Prospect is a small town located in northeastern Jefferson County, Kentucky, with a portion extending into Oldham County. Incorporated in 1974, it has a population of about 4,518. Originally known as Sand Hill, the area was settled by farmers in the late 18th century and grew around a railroad station built around 1872. Although the railway failed, the name Prospect remained, inspired by the scenic hilltop views. The town is known for its wealthy community and upscale residential neighborhoods, including the Estates of Hunting Creek and Norton Commons. Prospect lies near the Ohio River and is accessible via U.S. Route 42. Louisville is the nearest major city, just 10 miles away.
