About Prospect
Prospect is a small town located in northeastern Jefferson County, Kentucky, with a portion extending into Oldham County. Incorporated in 1974, it began as a farming community called Sand Hill in the late 18th century. The town grew around the Prospect railroad station built around 1872 by the Louisville, Harrods Creek and Westport Railway. Although the railway failed in 1879, the name Prospect stuck because of the scenic hilltop views. Known for its wealthy community and upscale residential neighborhoods, Prospect lies near the Ohio River and Harrods Creek. Visitors can reach Prospect via U.S. Route 42, just about 10 miles from Louisville. Nearby developments include the Estates of Hunting Creek and Norton Commons.
