About Prospect
Prospect is a small town in northeastern Jefferson County, Kentucky, with a portion extending into Oldham County. Incorporated in 1974, it began as a farming community known as Sand Hill in the late 18th century. The town grew around the Prospect railroad station built around 1872 by the Louisville, Harrods Creek and Westport Railway. Although the railway failed in 1879, the name Prospect remained, inspired by the scenic hilltop views. Today, Prospect is known for its wealthy community and upscale residential neighborhoods, including large developments like Norton Commons and the Estates of Hunting Creek. It lies near the Ohio River and can be reached via U.S. Route 42, just about 10 miles from Louisville.
