About Louisville
Louisville is a city in Jefferson County, Kentucky, located along the Ohio River near the Indiana state line. Founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark, it grew around the Falls of the Ohio, a natural river barrier important for early river traffic. Louisville was named after King Louis XVI of France and became an incorporated city in 1828.
