About Paducah
Paducah is a city in McCracken County, Kentucky, with a population of about 26,894. It sits where the Tennessee and Ohio rivers meet, covering roughly 20 square miles. Settled around 1821 and incorporated in 1838, Paducah was named after the Padouca people. The city grew as an important river and rail transportation hub, with steamboat industries and a major Illinois Central Railroad workshop. During the Civil War, it served as a Union supply depot and saw a Confederate raid in 1864. The 1937 flood led to the construction of a flood wall. Visitors can explore the historic downtown district, Civil War sites, and the National Quilt Museum. Paducah is accessible by rail through VMV Paducahbilt and is near cities like Evansville and Nashville.
