About O'Fallon
O'Fallon is a city in St. Clair County, Illinois, located about 16 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri. Founded in 1854 and named after Colonel John O’Fallon, the city grew around a Baltimore and Ohio Railroad depot that attracted German settlers. Incorporated as a village in 1874, O’Fallon expanded significantly in the 1980s and 1990s with the development of Interstate 64. The city covers roughly 14.5 square miles and is part of the Metro East region. O’Fallon is known for its proximity to Scott Air Force Base and its coal mining history. Visitors can reach the city via Interstate 64 or U.S. Route 50. Nearby attractions include historic sites like the Scott Field Historic District and natural areas such as Rock Springs Nature Park.
