About Murphysboro
Murphysboro is a small city in southern Illinois, serving as the county seat of Jackson County. Incorporated in 1843, it was named after William C. Murphy. The town has a rich history, including being the site of the deadliest tornado event in U.S. history and home to Major General John A. Logan, who helped establish Memorial Day.
