About Murphysboro
Murphysboro is a small city in southern Illinois, serving as the county seat of Jackson County. Incorporated in 1843, it was named after William C. Murphy following the destruction of the original courthouse in Brownsville. The city is known for its historic architecture, museums, and as the site of the deadliest tornado event in U.S. history.
