About Paducah
Paducah is a city in McCracken County, Kentucky, located where the Tennessee and Ohio rivers meet. Settled around 1821 and incorporated in 1838, it was named after the Comanche people called the Padoucas. Paducah grew as a major river and rail transportation hub, with steamboat industries and a large Illinois Central Railroad locomotive workshop. During the Civil War, it served as a Union supply depot and was raided by Confederate forces in 1864. The city is known for its historic downtown district, the National Quilt Museum, and Civil War history. Visitors can explore landmarks like the David Yeiser House and Fort Anderson site.
