About Hopkinsville
Hopkinsville, Kentucky, is the county seat of Christian County with a population of about 31,000. Established in 1797 on land donated by Bartholomew Wood and his wife, it was named after Samuel Hopkins in 1804. The town played a role in the Civil War, experiencing occupations by both Confederate and Union forces. It is also known for the Black Patch tobacco wars and the Night Riders in the early 1900s. Hopkinsville is near the Tennessee border, close to Clarksville, Tennessee, about 61 miles from Nashville.
