About Prospect
Prospect is a small town located in northeastern Jefferson County, Kentucky, with a portion extending into Oldham County. Incorporated in 1974, it began as a farming community called Sand Hill in the late 18th century. The town grew around the Prospect railroad station built around 1872 by the Louisville, Harrods Creek and Westport Railway. Although the railway failed, the name Prospect stuck due to the scenic hilltop views. Today, Prospect is known for its wealthy community and upscale residential neighborhoods like the Estates of Hunting Creek and Norton Commons. It lies near the Ohio River and is accessible via U.S. Route 42. Louisville, just 10 miles away, is the nearest major city.
