About Louisville
Louisville, Kentucky, is located in Jefferson County along the Ohio River at the Indiana state line. Founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark near the Falls of the Ohio, the city grew as a key portage site. Named after King Louis XVI of France, Louisville became an incorporated city in 1828.
